8 Spring fashion trends that you may be interested in this season

Are you ready to shed your winter coats and get back in touch with your favorite spring fashion pieces?

If you are anything like us, it is possible that you took a deep breath today (perhaps just after your first back-to-work alarm erupted) to decide that January was not for you. The rest of winter is not for you. Please press the button to jump ahead to spring if you have it.

It’s not an exaggeration for us to say that after spending two summers in various states of national lockdown (the most recent being the four-day of sunshine), it’s clear that we all owe one hell of a great one this year.

We are a little wary about what restrictions might be in place. But whether you’re enjoying the sun for the first time in what seems like forever, or socially distancing yourself from your garden for the third consecutive year, the spring/summer 2020 fashion weeks look set to be a hot one.

winter may not be as bad, strictly speaking. Our post lockdown wardrobes were allowed to socialize again with a host of trends that are more appealing than our recent tracksuit-clad Uniform. This makes those occasional forays back into the community all the more enjoyable.

Mega knits that double as wraparound duvets for the coldest days, to Meghan Markle’s favorite ‘solo saturation_’, there are many ways to make this season more attractive.

Let’s face it, there isn’t much better than a carefree summer outfit – and SS22’s looks are a lot more joyful, nostalgic, and celebratory than we have seen in a while.

Low-slung Waists

While high-rise jeans have been the norm for more than a decade in our wardrobes, spring 2022 will bring low-slung trousers back to the forefront. It’s all about showing the midriff so it’s not trendy to opt for a low-rise top and hide it under a long knit. For maximum ’00s drama, opt for cropped tops.

Pleated Skirts

Marks&Spencer

The pleated skirt was one of the most popular trends that emerged from this round of runways. While there were a few mini versions of this summer’s favorite tennis skirt, SS22 is all about the pleated midi. There are no set rules. You can print, be plain, colorful, monochrome or pair it with knits. As long as the bralette is pleated, you are good to go.

Liquid Metal

Next season will see a new way to create metallic sparkle without the use of sequins, which can be very harmful to the environment. We recommend that you use liquid metal sheens to create a subtler, more sophisticated, and modern version of shimmer. These sheeny dreams are primarily found in silvers and golds. They create a shimmering, molten metal look that makes your skin appear like it is floating around.

Ultra Minis

Pleated Skirts might be midi next season but all other designers are reducing the length of their hemlines. These are the minis that supermodels from the ’90s would be proud to wear. They leave well over half the leg exposed underneath the short slip of fabric. To ensure the skirt packs a punch, choose super-statement colors, prints, or fabrics.

Whole White

Although suits may have been absent from the sartorial radar since large swathes worked from home, the next season will see the return of this classic staple. These pieces will make it easier to return to work in a crisp white outfit with striking accents such as waist ties, contrast black hardware, and bold shoulders.

Elegant Yellow

Tonal beige lovers, get out of your way. Neon yellow is not for wardrobe wallflowers, but it looks set to become one of the most popular colors next summer. Even more exciting news? It is especially epic when worn head to toe.

Cut-Outs

We all know that cut-outs don’t seem new. Although they were popular a few seasons back, they are now far more effective over the long term than we initially thought. This is surely a good thing. Cost-per-wear and environmentally-wise, the more you’re happy wearing an item the better, and with cut-outs – wherever they are on an item – seemingly going nowhere fast, you’d be wise to hop on board.

Summer 2022 will see underwear becoming an acceptable type of outerwear. This is another one for the brave dressers. Layer it under a blazer or top/dress with a cut-out for an elegant look.

  1. Today, I went to the beach front with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and
said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear
and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it
pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone!
