#01- Lyn Slater fashion

At 60, Slater launched Accidental Icon, her fashion blog. Slater has influenced the fashion industry by advocating a message of inclusion and diversity. #02 – Lauren Wasser

Wasser was diagnosed with toxic shock syndrome (TSS) in 2012, and her right leg was amputated below the knee. Wasser conquered her own life since two great parents raised her.

She first suffered from severe depression before deciding to seek a career as a model. Lauren has spoken out against the restrictive beauty standards of the fashion business and the pressure models experience to comply with unreasonable expectations. She has advocated for the inclusion of people with disabilities in the fashion industry, calling for a more diverse casting of models and more accessible design lines.

She has worked to increase awareness of the hazards linked with menstruation products and to alter the fashion industry’s approach to diversity and inclusiveness. Wasser has collaborated with businesses to provide more safer, organic menstruation products.

#03 – Mara Martin

As a designer and model, Mara Martin is known for her appearance in the 2018 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition event. Martin, who was breastfeeding then, made history by becoming the first model to walk the runway while nursing her infant. This event normalised breastfeeding and discussed the difficulties and stigma associated with public nursing.

Martin has continued to work in the fashion industry and has been an outspoken champion for women’s rights and maternity health. The significance of maternal and infant nutrition has been highlighted, and she has utilised her celebrity to bring attention to the issue.

Nef rose to popularity in 2015 when she became the first openly transgender woman to be signed to IMG Models, one of the world’s leading modeling agencies. Since then, she has posed for several high-end fashion companies and appeared in countless magazine spreads and advertising campaigns.

Nef has greatly influenced the fashion business by helping to create a more open and varied workplace for all individuals, regardless of gender identification. She has inspired many people to embrace their originality and style by breaking down boundaries and creating new chances.

#05 – Nyome Nicholas-Williams

Nyome Nicholas-Williams is a black plus-size model who rose to prominence for her anti-censorship and discrimination campaign in the fashion industry. She has utilised her prominence to call attention to the modeling industry’s problematic lack of diversity and inclusion. Nyome has specifically contested Instagram’s nudity regulations, which she claims unfairly target and filter photographs of black bodies, plus-size bodies, and bodies with stretch marks and other flaws.

In August of 2020, she used the platform to successfully advocate for more media visibility and depiction of disadvantaged bodies by launching the #IWantToSeeNyome campaign.

#06 – Jillian Mercado

Jillian Mercado is a well-known model and fashion activist who has made great steps in promoting inclusivity and diversity in the fashion industry. She is known for her work challenging traditional ideas of beauty and promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities in fashion.

Jillian was diagnosed with spastic muscular dystrophy at a young age, causing her to need a wheelchair. he began her work in the fashion industry as a fashion blogger before moving on to modeling later in her career. She became the first disabled model to lead a major fashion campaign in 2014 when she was cast as Diesel’s Spring/Summer campaign.
