Piebaldism is a rare genetic mutation that affects melanin production. In most piebaldism cases, the unpigmented areas are present at birth and do not increase in size or number. The absence of melanocytes leads to patches of skin and hair that are lighter than usual. 90% of affected individuals have a white section of hair near their front hairline. People with hearing loss are present from birth, and people with this condition often have very pale blue eyes or different colored eyes. Sometimes one eye has segments of two different colors, and as well, you can have one blue eye with one brown eye too. Distinctive hair coloring is another common sign of the condition.
